Darlington Qualifying Report – Erik Jones Starting 30th

The NASCAR Cup Series is back at the Darlington Raceway for one of the most exciting weekends of the year! The Cookout Southern 500 is a crown-jewel event  and widely recognized as throwback weekend. Sunday's event will also kick off the first round of the NASCAR Playoffs. All events prior to the race, including practice sessions and qualifying, remain cancelled in an effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19 at the track among crew members, drivers, and track personnel. NASCAR is continuing to implement the new method of determining race line-ups that factors in each driver’s finishing position from the previous race, ranking in team owner points and the fastest lap from the previous race.

Erik Jones in the No. 20 Sport Clips Toyota Camry will be starting in the 30th position for Sunday's race. Jones was the 2019 Southern 500 winner and is excited to be back for another chance to claim the prestigious title. The starting lineup was determined by a random live drawing that was aired on FS1's "Race Hub".
