Daytona 500 Pole Qualifying Report

The NASCAR Cup Series kicked off the 2020 season at the infamous Daytona International Speedway with pole qualifying for 62nd annual Daytona 500 set to take place on February 16th. This unique qualifying event determines who will start the Daytona 500 in the first position and all other drivers are placed into the Duels at Daytona based on their qualifying time. Sunday's first Daytona 500 practice session left Erik Jones and the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing team feeling confident with their DeWalt Toyota Camry which ranked 4th fastest in a field of 43 cars.

Erik Jones was the final competitor to take the 2.5 mile track for one two-lap qualifying session on Sunday afternoon. The No. 20 DeWalt Camry posted a 10th quick lap, running at speeds over 192 mph. This time will place him into the second Duel at Daytona, starting in the 5th position. The results from the duels will determine the official line up for the start of the Daytona 500.

On Thursday the NASCAR Cup Series race field will take the green flag for the Bluegreen Vacations Duels at Daytona at 7:00pm ET, broadcast on FS1.
