Daytona Qualifying Report – Erik Jones Starting 20th

NASCAR is headed back to Daytona International Speedway this weekend for the Coke Zero Sugar 400. This will be the last race of the regular season, locking in the top 16 driver's in points to compete in the NASCAR Cup Series playoff's and crowning the regular season champion. Going into this weekend, Jones is sitting the 18th position in points. All events prior to the race, including practice sessions and qualifying, remain cancelled in an effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19 at the track among crew members, drivers, and track personnel. NASCAR is continuing to implement the new method of determining race line-ups that factors in each driver’s finishing position from the previous race, ranking in team owner points and the fastest lap from the previous race.

Erik Jones in the No. 20 Auto-Owners Insurance Toyota Camry will be starting in the 20th position for Sunday's race. Jones won this race in 2018 and is entering this weekend confident that he can contend for a win again. The starting lineup was determined by a random live drawing that was aired on FS1's "Race Hub".
