Daytona Road Course Qualifying Report – Erik Jones Starting 20th

For the first time in NASCAR Cup Series history, drivers will compete at the Daytona road course at Daytona International Speedway with no practice prior to the drop of the green flag. NASCAR continues to cancel all events prior to the race, including practice sessions and qualifying. This decision was made in an effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19 at the track among crew members, drivers, and track personnel. This weekend NASCAR is also implementing a new method to determine the starting lineup for Sunday's race.

Erik Jones in the No. 20 TrueStart Toyota Camry will be starting in the 20th position for the GoBowling 235. The starting lineup was determined by factoring in each driver's finishing position from the previous race, ranking in team owner points and the fastest lap from the previous race. This new method is meant to be more competition based rather than a random draw based on driver ranking. Learn more at NASCAR.com.
