Erik Jones Finishes in the 27-place at the Talladega Superspeedway

Erik Jones and the No. 43 United States Air Force Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE team finished in the 27th-place in the NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) GEICO 500 at the Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway on Sunday, April 25.

The lineup for the extended 191-lap event was determined by using NASCAR's competition-based formula, which takes into account finishing positions from the previous race (weighted 25% owner and 25% driver, 19th-place Richmond), the ranking in team owner points (35%, 26-place) and the fastest lap from the previous race (15%). Jones started the event at the 2.66-mile oval located in Talladega, Alabama from the 22nd-place on Row 11.

The 24-year-old Byron, Michigan, native was scored as high as first place at the Talladega Superspeedway, with seven total laps led. Jones was in the 11th-place for the final restart before being collected in the last lap incident.

"It was a solid day for our No. 43 United States Air Force Camaro ZL1 1LE. It felt good to get up front and lead some laps at the Talladega Superspeedway. Unfortunately, we got turned-around coming to the finish line, and did not get the finish our Richard Petty Motorsports team was capable of. We will regroup, and go on to the Kansas Speedway."
