From the Pit Box:

Chris Gayle: “This is a place that Erik has run really well the last two years in the Cup Series. A little surprisingly to me overall. Fontana is a unique, large track that is super abrasive, so I guess since it’s so unique I didn’t really expect Erik to take to it as quickly as he has. We’ve had top-10 or top-five cars in both events in Fontana so far, so it’ll really be nice to get back on the top-five track after such a disappointing race in Phoenix. The teams are starting to become more familiar with the new rules package and how we need to adjust the cars, so this should help us make better decisions and unload a little closer for Fontana. It’s going to be interesting to see how the race and restarts play out at such a big race track where the competitors can truly run multiple lanes and be fast. Restarts should be exciting for sure!”
