No. 20 DEWALT Toyota Camry News and Notes:

  • JONES AT KANSAS SPEEDWAY: Heading to a track where Erik Jones has seen success, he’ll make his sixth start at Kansas Speedway in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) this weekend during Saturday night’s Digital Ally 400. Jones made his MENCS debut at Kansas Speedway in 2015 filling in for the injured Kyle Busch. Jones most recent start at the track also earned him his best-career finish at the track in the Cup Series with a solid fourth-place finish. In the Xfinity Series, Jones has two starts with both starts resulting in second-place finishes with a total of 197 laps led. In his lone Truck Series start at the track, Jones started from the pole and led 151 of 167 laps before finishing 11th.

  • JGR AT KANSAS SPEEDWAY: Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) has 83 total starts at Kansas Speedway in Cup Series competition. In those starts, the team has earned four wins, 19 top-five finishes, 31 top-10 finishes and two pole starting positions. The team has led 896 laps, completed 21,033 of 22,013 attempted laps (95.5%) and earned an average start of 12.4 and an average finish of 16.7. Four different drivers have won at the track for JGR, starting with Tony Stewart in 2006 followed by Danny Hamlin in 2012, Matt Kenseth in 2013 and Busch in 2016.

From the Driver’s Seat:

Erik Jones: “Kansas has always been a good track for me and one that holds a special memory as the track where I made my Cup Series debut in 2015 filling in for Kyle (Busch). In both the Xfinity and Truck Series I came close to getting wins, but came up short in both, but I’ve always had fast Toyota’s. We were strong for both races last year in Kansas and were able to get a top five in the fall, so hopefully we can pick up where we left off with our DEWALT Camry and use the momentum from Dover and contend for our first win of the season on Saturday night.”

From the Pit Box:

Chris Gayle: “The 20 team is really excited about going to Kansas this weekend. We feel like we had strong cars at Kansas in 2018, with a top 10 and a top 5 run in last year’s events. We had a strong run at our last intermediate event this season with the new package (Texas), and have a little momentum from a solid run in Dover this past weekend. It’s a familiar tire that we’ve run this year, so we feel like we have a lot of familiarity and a lot of momentum going into the Kanas event. That should all bode well to help us go get the first win of 2019 for this 20 DEWALT team in Kansas.”
