Erik Jones: “Charlotte has been a pretty good track for us in the past and one where I have run well. This weekend is one of our longest races of the year, and with the hot temperatures, we’ll definitely have to do our work and prepare for not only the race, but prepare ourselves for the long day and night. It’s also a special weekend with how we honor the military. NASCAR does a really good job every weekend of honoring our military, but to carry a fallen soldier on our car adds to how special this weekend is. This will be the first time I am carrying someone with a tie to me and I’m honored to carry my mom’s uncle, Richard Eckert, on the No. 20 Camry this weekend. I think we’ll have a good race and hopefully we can end the night with our first win of the season.”

- JONES AT CHARLOTTE MOTOR SPEEDWAY: Erik Jones will make his fourth Monster Energy Cup Series start at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend for the Coca-Cola 600. In his previous three starts at the track in the Cup Series, Jones best-career finish is seventh in the 2017 Coca-Cola 600. Jones also has starts at the track in both the Xfinity and Truck Series. With five starts in the Xfinity Series, his best finish is second in 2015 and he has an average finish of 3.2. Jones lone Truck Series start resulted in 88 laps led and one of the closest finish in series history when he finished inches behind Kasey Kahne to record a second-place finish.
- JGR AT CHARLOTTE MOTOR SPEEDWAY: Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) has 126 total starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Cup Series competition. In those starts, the team has earned six wins, 49 top-five finishes, 76 top-10 finishes and 10 pole starting positions. The team has led 3,457 laps, completed 44,130 of 45,507 attempted laps (97.0%) and earned an average start of 12.1 and an average finish of 11.6. Five different drivers have won at the track for JGR, with Bobby Labonte winning two races and Dale Jarett, Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch each winning one race for the team.
- CORPORAL RICHARD ELLIS ECKERT: Jones and the No. 20 team will honor Corporal Richard Ellis Eckert this weekend for the Coca-Cola 600 and Memorial Day weekend. A Grand Rapids, Michigan native, Eckert was Jones great-uncle and his mother Carol’s uncle. Corporal Eckert served in the Marines and was based at Camp Elliott in San Diego, California. Eckert was killed on April 12, 1945 in Okinawa during World War II.
