This week Erik Jones returned to Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, to continue his question for a “hometown” victory. Brought up just over an hour away from the 2-mile racetrack, in Byron, Michigan, Jones relishes the chance to bring home a second Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series victory at this special location. On Saturday the No. 20 Craftsman/Sport Clips team took a single-car qualifying run to set their starting position for the Sunday main event. The Toyota team drove a timed lap at over 186.000 mph and earned a row-seven spot to take the green flag from the fourteenth position. When asked about his goal, the 23-year old reiterated, “It always is special coming back here. Being at home and staying with the family and seeing all the people that come out and support this race is always a good feeling. I’ve always wanted to race here growing up and now I have my opportunity in the Cup Series. To come here always feels good. Would definitely love to get a win here at some point in my career in the Cup Series.” Watch Jones and the No. 20 team tackle 400 miles Sunday. The NASCAR event will be broadcast at 2:00pm ET on the FS1 broadcast.
