No. 20 Craftsman ACE/CMN Toyota Camry Preview (NCS) – Bank of America ROVAL 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL

No. 20 CRAFTSMAN Toyota Camry News and Notes:

  • JONES AT CHARLOTTE MOTOR SPEEDWAY ROVAL: Erik Jones will make his third-career start at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL this weekend. In his previous two starts at the ROVAL, luck hasn’t been on his side and he’s finished both races outside the top 20.

  • JGR AT CHARLOTTE MOTOR SPEEDWAY ROVAL: Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) has eight total starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s ROVAL in Cup Series competition. In those starts, the team has earned one top-10 finish with Martin True Jr.’s seventh-place finish in 2019. The team has led one lap, completed 769 of 872 attempted laps (88.2%) and earned an average start of 17.2 and an average finish of 24.8.

  • THIS WEEK ON THE NO. 20 CAMRY: This week, Jones and the No. 20 team will carry a special paint scheme, the No. 20 CRAFTSMAN ACE/Children’s Miracle Network Toyota Camry. Four children from Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte helped design the paint scheme by imagining their own superhero powers: Zackery, age 14, and Sofia, age 12, both chose the power of teleportation; Christian, age 12 selected invincibility; and Kyler, age 12, selected the power to be invisible. With COVID-19 limiting the traditional Racing for a Miracle at-track experiences, the paint scheme was unveiled in a victory-lane style burnout amidst a cloud of white smoke. The children will be honorary JGR team members for the race, with their cardboard cut-outs sitting in Jones’ pit box during the race. The children also had opportunities for remote and virtual experiences to replicate race-day fun, including a virtual e-race with Jones.

  • STARTING LINE UP: Erik Jones and the No. 20 CRAFTSMAN team will start Sunday’s race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL from the 14th position.

  • TALLADEGA RECAP: Jones and the No. 20 team started the race at Talladega Superspeedway from the 16th position and led 13 laps throughout the race before finishing second to teammate Denny Hamlin.

  • RACE INFO: The Bank of America ROVAL 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL is scheduled for Sunday, October 11, 2020. Coverage will begin at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC, Sirius XM Channel 90 and PRN Radio.

From the Driver’s Seat:

Erik Jones: “The ROVAL hasn’t been one of our best tracks, but I’m hoping we can go out this weekend and have a strong run in a pretty special scheme. For the second year in a row, I’m honored to be driving a special CRAFTSMAN scheme and support the Children’s Miracle Network as part of CRAFTSMAN’s Racing for a Miracle program. I’m excited and proud to drive a car designed and inspired by four of my new friends and real-life superheroes, Zackery, Christian, Sofia and Kyler. Each chose the superhero power they would want and we created a really cool scheme showcasing each one of them. Even though they can’t be at the track with us this weekend, I hope they’ll be watching the race and that we can get a win for them. From myself and everyone on the 20 team this weekend, this race is for Zackery, Christian, Sofia and Kyler.”
