News:
North Carolina Humanities Partners with the Erik Jones Foundation

North Carolina Humanities is partnering with NASCAR Cup Series driver Erik Jones and his charitable foundation, the Erik Jones Foundation, to promote a statewide reading initiative involving North Carolina-based authors and books!

Each month, starting December 2021, NC Humanities will help select a North Carolina-centric book for Jones to read out loud during his #READwithErik reading events online to encourage reading at all levels. The books selected will either be written by a North Carolina author or highlight the regions’ cultures and traditions.

Beyond #READwithErik, the Erik Jones Foundation will support NC Humanities holistically throughout 2022 by promoting and participating in the activities surrounding our North Carolina Reads statewide book club and other book-centric programs for community centers, schools and libraries. Stay tuned throughout the 2022 year for more information on how you can get involved!

About Erik Jones: The Erik Jones Foundation champions childhood reading, specifically by embracing literature and promoting the inherent value a book provides. The 25-year-old racer from Byron, Michigan, who now calls North Carolina home, is an avid reader who believes in the benefits of life long reading.
